Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) and Cardiosave

The Cardiosave™ console, in conjunction with the fiber-optic intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), offers efficient and safe circulatory support to patients with hemodynamic compromise. Used in critical settings such as cardiogenic shock, acute myocardial ischemia, or during high-risk procedures, it provides reliable, minimally invasive assistance.

This type of assistance improves coronary perfusion and reduces the heart’s workload by precisely synchronizing with the cardiac cycle. By inflating during diastole and deflating before systole, the balloon optimizes blood flow and reduces afterload, facilitating more effective cardiac recovery.

Fiberoptic IABPs integrate a sensor at the catheter tip that provides real-time aortic pressure readings. This technological improvement allows for faster and more accurate monitoring, optimizing the timing of balloon inflation and deflation with the patient’s cardiac cycle.
